« Reply #-1 on: August 06, 2016, 05:24:53 AM »
I've done several Butts on the PBC - but not a Picnic Ham ... Local store has Picnic Hams for a very low price and I would like to try - any tips ?

You basically have a shoulder with a shank.  Cook it just like you would a pork butt.

I trim picnics a bit more than I do butts.

Like smoke says, cook it like a butt. I guess the butt and picnic make up the shoulder.

Yep, like the others said, cook it exactly as you would a butt and you'll be good.

I just did four whole shoulders for the marching band cookout.  When I picked them up from the butcher, I had him cut them in half giving me four butts and four picnics.

I often buy whole shoulders because it's more economical.
