Maple Hot Toddy
« Reply #-1 on: December 28, 2015, 09:31:03 PM »
The 30F sleet and driving rain here today brought me home cold to the core. A hot toddy was in order to get the chill off!
I came across this recipe a while back and thought I'd try it on for size! ::)
The verdict...if you like maple this is the real deal!

For 2 toddies

Bring 2 C water to a simmer in a pan over med. heat.
Add 1 teabag of black tea, 3 whole cloves, 1/2 cinnamon stick. Turn heat to low, steep 5 minutes. Shut off heat. Remove stick, cloves, and teabag. Add 1/3 C brandy. Put 1 T maple syrup into each cup, divide tea/brandy mixture amongst the two mugs. Squeeze 1/4 fresh lemon into each mug and serve.
Cheers! 8)

Shortcut?  I'd call that an essential. More maple = good

Sounds good but doesn't the tea water down the brandy a bit much? 8)

I plan to try this one, only after it gets cold around here.  74 damn degrees today.  I'm wearing shorts.  Wait, what the heck am I complaining about.  I'll just turn the AC down a lot.  Problem solved!  Now where are all my fixings?

Mike, being from S. California you can't fully understand the physical need for the hot water/tea with the booze, in this case brandy. Mixed, the hot water and booze flushes the icy matter off of the inner-skeletal structure. Usually one or two fits the bill for this process. Thereafter, the brandy is consumed in a snifter to keep the person inside out of the cold.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!  :D
