I was shopping at Lowes today and found the Stubbs Charcoal. I've heard good things about it for the PBC, I'll give it a shot for my next steaks or wings to see how hot it burns compared to Kingsford

I like it Stubbs better when it comes to briquets. It's the best I've found.

I believe it burns slightly hotter because it is all natural.  I generally don't use temperatures when using the PBC, I keep an eye on the type of smoke coming from it.

I used the Stubbs tonight on some simple chicken tenders and I really prefer the flavor of the Stubbs Charcoal. It has a really good wood grilled flavor that IMO is better than the flavor from the Kingsford

I'm old & taste buds & smell slowly decreasing.
I know many who say they can taste the difference between , lump, briquittes , & different wood flavors.
I CAN'T !
Maybe between Apple & Black walnut ( nasty stuff) but that's about it.
Since between home & LostArrow hunting camp we go through 4-5 hundred lbs charcoal yearly I tell the boys to buy Royal Oak made or Kings ford when on sale.

When the Summer Holidays hit and you get 40 lbs of Kingsford for 12.99 and the Stubbs never goes on sale......you know what I will be hauling up the mountain  ;)

I like Stubb's as well and use it in most of my grills and smokers when I need briquets. I also use Wicked Good, Rancher, and Kingsford Professional Briquets.

As for the standard Kingsford, just don't care for it at all.

I can smell the difference but as for it imposing a different flavor on the meat I agree, I can't really taste a difference.

I personally like the way Stubbs burns.  Each type of charcoal has its own way of burning in my opinion and it is a matter of getting used to each type.

Like LA & Smoke, when KBB goes on sale in the next little bit, I'll be lined up.  Between competitions, charity, and family cooks, I go through at least 400 lbs a year.

Like LA, neither I, nor any of my family members have an aversion to KBB.  Plenty of people compete, and even thought I don't, a lot of them win with KBB.

I'm sure that Stubbs and all those other brands are great, I simply cannot justify almost double my fuel cost.
