$15.99 for Tri Tip
« Reply #-1 on: July 13, 2017, 05:01:43 PM »
Stopped at a butcher shop that is pretty close to me. Picking up some ground beef for burgers on the Blackstone tonight. As I was leaving I spotted a tri tip in the freezer for the really offensive price of $15.99 per pound. And some poor Minnesota slob will someday but it.
Why it is so expensive in Minnesota, if you can find it at all, is one of life's great mysteries.

Pappy -

It has to do with the synchronicity of the number three...
     - There are three points on a tri tip.
     - There is a classic children's game known ALMOST all over the world as "Duck, Duck, Goose."
     - The use of three words, "Duck, Duck, Goose," to describe a game named after three waterfowl is consistent with the laws of the universe, maintains the balance of the heavenly spheres, and pleases the gods.
     - For some inane reason (possibly having to do with Sven & Ole), ONLY IN MINNESOTA the exact same game is called "Duck, Duck, Grey Duck."
     - This anomaly (four words for the three birds) upsets the natural order and offends the gods.
     - In an attempt to restore the balance thing, the gods have therefore decreed that the Minnesota price of tri tip is triple that in the rest of the nation.

Any relevant questions?

OBTW, as further punishment, your tongue may cleave to the roof of your mouth if you try to say "tri tip triples" quickly several times in a row.

Everyone is entitled to my opinion

Go to a store here in Texas and ask if they have any tri tip and you will be asked "what's that?"
