Too many spices & rubs
« Reply #-1 on: September 04, 2017, 10:43:47 PM »
I had too many spices and rubs in the pantry. One time they were organized but now they are just thrown in baskets. Since I couldn't always find the ones I needed, I ended up buying some when I already had them.
So this weekend I decided to build a spice rack that I could hang on the pantry door.

Filled them up and still have a lot in the pantry. Guess I'll have to figure something else out : )

NO, no, no, they have to be by catagory, sub-catagory, & then alphabetical order. (& make sure the labels are all straight & facing forward) ::) :-[ :-[

Seriously, a great rack. Wish I had a place to put one.

Awesome, just awesome.  We thinned the herd when we moved but now all the stores around Waco have rubs I used to have to order on-line....here we go again ;D

Not yet - since i don't have room for them all, I first have to thin the herd by combining duplicates where I can. Those I can't combine I will put the "extras" in the "reserve" basket. Based upon what's left I will put the first team in the racks, and the rest in the "on Deck" baskets. Then I will alphabetize them (not from OCD, but for ease of locating.) : )

My stuff is in TWILLTIUI (That's Where It Landed Last Time I Used It) order.  Usually I can locate what I want in an hour or so.  If I'm in a hurry I just go to the store and buy another one (about twenty minutes, average) in which case the original will magically appear and I'll have two of that item (until I misplace both of them and start another acquisition cycle).  This method of storage and retrieval is good for the economy and is professionally endorsed by the McCormick Spice Company.

This brings me to the subject of expiration dates . . . Oh.  That's a whole 'nuther post  ::)
