Why does food taste better outdoors- at home -Camping-Boating etc.

Has this ever been discussed on this site before.

OK I am at Block island years ago & had a wonderful (one of my ten best) steak on my gas grill off of my boat. Was it that good or was it because of the place I was at. Same with hot dogs & burgers in the woods. Or this past weekend at the club on the Housatonic river I cooked hotdogs on our grill for a Jets party my wife & I hosted they were just amazing. In fact more people stayed on our second floor porch & ate then watched the game......OK it was only the Jets :'( :'( :'( LOL. Now think of it by the end of summer most people are a little tired of dogs & burgers (not me). But people kept saying how great they tasted.

So i guess I answered my own question it is the beauty of the great outdoors...the wild....nature... right? ;D ;D ;D

But wait a minute I have spent many hours in the Citi-field, Shea stadium, Yankee stadium, Giants Stadium & Metlife Stadium parking lots cooking & eating.......Ambiance, hell no Great smells or views..... NY city...again no....... just cars.

OK it must be I am a great cook :D :D :D :D  No again.....You are all much better than me so that is not the answer.

Friends & Family? not in my backyard with my in-laws or at a stadium with 50,000 drunk fans in a parking lot....no again.

So why does it. I have been thinking about this for the last two days......I can only come up with two answers

1) I am in my happy place(s)

2) I am relaxed even if I am working hard throwing a party.

Even in a parking lot in a major city surrounded by crazy fans at 10 below.

What say you?

I remember an old Peanuts comic strip where it showed Snoopy holding a big mug and he mused "Hot chocolate tastes better with a ski lodge around it"

The best hot dogs I ever ate were Dodger Dogs. Something about sitting in Dodger Stadium eating a hot dog in the cool Chaves Ravine air just made them taste that much better.

I 100% agree.  Every year in October / November my wife and I go camping for two weeks on the beach below santa cruz.  Campsite 14 (i've been camping at this campsite since I was 5 years old every year except the years I was in the service).  When we camp the food taste so, so much better.  I've cooked chicken on my jumbo joe at home and its good.  Cooking the same chicken camping with just salt and pepper is beyond fantastic.  The flavor is ten times better than the chicken cooked at home.  Grilled fish, hamburger, pancakes, breakfast steaks, sausage, eggs, spaghetti and coffee.  It all taste better camping or boating.
