Rotisserie temp concerns
« Reply #-1 on: December 30, 2017, 06:59:54 PM »
I love my rotisserie. The problem I have is I'm already poking 4 holes on each side of the meat from the prongs.  Than I give it multiple stab wounds from my instant read. Poor meat lol. I googled this thing called the meater. It's a true wireless thermometer. This would be great for rotisserie. I also like how the other end gives ambient temp. That said has anyone ever owned / used one of these? I can't find it on amazon and on their site it wants you to pre order. I don't like pre ordering anything . Anyone have any info hey can share on this

I have read a couple of reviews and several discussions on other forums. I have no first hand experience.

Looks like it is available now. The "block" - 4 meaters and a charging block is what is on pre-order.

I wonder if an infrared thermometer would work, just on the outside of the meat..when you put the rotisserie skewers in, it will retain the juices until you take them out so I think  a stick shouldn't do too much damage or stick a skewer in the hole you made.  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

I've seen where some guys have run the wire for their meat probe through the ferrule that the spit rides on.  Then using rubber bands or zip ties, fasten the transmitter of, say, their Maverick, to the handle of spit.  It then rotates with the spit and sends the temp to the receiver.

I haven't tried this, myself, yet, but am planning to give it "a whirl" on my next roti cook.
