An expensive Jack Daniels
« Reply #-1 on: June 26, 2015, 11:25:59 PM »
My favorite drink, which I don't do now because of the meds, is Jack Daniels on the rocks.  As most of you know they have Green Label, Black Label, Gentleman Jack, Single Barrel, and a new one I have not tried I think it's call Honey Jack or something like that.

The other day I was in the Class VI store at Ft. Gordon picking up some cooking spirits and was looking through there and while looking at the Jack Daniels I saw this fancy case with a liter of Sinatra Select by Jack Daniels and it was $128 for a liter!  I don't know what it would cost on the civilian market.  I can't imagine what it must taste like. Talk about sippin' whiskey...that would be sipped and sloshed around and whatever else could be done before drinking it.

If I had Tee's, Art's, or Don's money I could buy some.

Dee

I, too, am on a med that prohibits me from enjoying my favorite beverage but I can drink vicariously through this section.  It is great fun to think what that stuff might taste like.  BTW your footnote is the best one on the forum  ::)

I once had a 25 year old Macallan scotch on a cruise. It was just a small glass. If I remember right I think I paid around $30 for that small glass. The entire bottle was worth well over $1,000 I was told ???

I enjoyed every sip :P

Most of the expensive stuff does not impress me that much. I'll stick with the medium to low priced stuff! Don

By and large, I'm with you Don.  Frankly, I'm not sure if Tee could even fund my scotch habit, so I'll stick with The Grouse.

But, for a long time now, a friend of my dad's has been giving him a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue for Christmas.  It goes for about $250 a fifth here in NC.  I'm not sayin' it's 10 times better than my Grouse, but it is . . . . very good!
