MAK Insulating Assistance
« Reply #-1 on: October 11, 2017, 10:47:56 AM »
Question for Mr. MAK,

At work we have folks that make soft blanket type insulating blankets for almost anything. How would one go about getting the design spec’s for the 2 Star smoker box so that these guys can build me something to make my MAK more usable in the colder months.

Is this a reasonable idea? Would this cause the smoker operates problems?

Something that that more of Northern folks might be interested in.

Thanks and Take Care,

We do not recommend blankets mainly due to the safety aspect.
If you do decide to make one be sure it doesn't cover any venting of the grill.
If its pellet consumption you are looking for I would suggest our new flame zone kit for pre 2017 grills.
It drastically reduces the heat build up in the belly and forces heat to the cooking chamber more directly increasing pellet consumption.

CDN Smoker---go to our MAK GRILL FANS FB page, and you'll read from today's posts that we have grill owners in Alaska who use their MAKs in MINUS 40 degree weather. No need for an insulation blanket.  And what MAK DADDY said about the new FlameZone set-up is true. Worth the investment for sure.
