Need a good recipe
« Reply #-1 on: December 16, 2014, 05:25:33 PM »
I'm thinking about cooking a pork loin roast as a part of the Christmas meal.  Does anyone have a "knock your socks off" recipe.  There will be about  15 people at my house,  most of whom aren't accustomed to eating smoked foods.

Does pork loin wrapped in bacon then stuffed with broccoli, rice and cheese sound good?

I go very basic with pork loin, and I find that it yields the best results.  Oil it up, salt and pepper it and then apply a crust of minced garlic.  Smoke to 150 internal, rest for a few and slice.

IF your guests are not that hip about smoked food, I've had great success with just salt, pepper and oil the outside on the grill grate.   Cook to 145, let it sit, slice and serve.    Always a hit here.  Have done them tied and on the rotisserie, too.  Helps keep it more moist for some reason.

I read the other day that looks of their future spouse are not important to a female and good looks are very important to the male.  Looking at the picture of Tommy and Kimmie obviously validates that.  Dee

That does look good - gives me the idea to pulse cauliflower to rice grain consistency, add cheese and spices, and then stuff into a loin.  I kind of like cauliflower over broccoli.

i'll tell you what I like better than a pork loin
are pork tenderloins
they almost always come two in a package
and they all have a tapered tail
I cut them in half and put the two tails together (opposite ends)
then I wrap the three pieces with bacon
you can grill them
or sear them, then finish indirect from the fire to finish at 145°~150°
they always come out juicy, not dry like some of the loins
if you're cooking for a crowd the three pieces are good servings for 6 hungry people
just add more tenderloins to meet your demand

these were cooked on my Char-Broil RED infrared grill on Low
I sauced them at 30'min, they finished at 150° in 45'min.
