Smoked Pork Belly on the Weber with the SnS & DnG
« Reply #-1 on: June 25, 2017, 09:01:41 AM »
First actual smoked pork belly. I have made lots of bacon and some pork belly burnt ends previously, but
have never smoked an uncured belly. I will be doing this again! Really delicious!

Thanks Dave. To be honest I am not trying to grow my channel. I am just doing the videos to post on here and Facebook. I can upload to Facebook okay, but I have to use You Tube to get it to work on this board. I tried to use Smugmug, where all my photos are, but that only links to the Smugmug site. If you have any suggestions about linking without using You Tube please let me know.

I'd say embrace YouTube.  Great place to get your videos noticed.  That's what they're for, right?  To get watched? ;)

Have never tried a pork belly, those sammies look really good ! ! !

I did notice that my Sam's has started carrying them, at least sporadically, so it's on the list of things to do this summer.

I don't get quite the time that you do on a load in my SnS, but I'm sure that part of that is the fact (at home) I cook exclusively on my 26.  I'm guess it just takes more fuel because it's an exponentially larger cooking chamber.

I've been wanting to cook a pork belly...

This looks like a great way to do it.

I may get one for the Cookout with Bremer.

Mike that looks great.  You showed the fat the rendered off - how much was left in the meat when you pulled it?  Was there still a lot of fat?  That is what has kept me from trying that - I don't like a lot of fat in the pork and am pretty careful to get most of it out when I cook a pork butt.  I am curious about the amount of waste on a pork belly.  How many pounds did you start with and how many pounds of final product do you think you got?  Thanks!

Very little fat at all in the pulled meat. I started with a 5 pound slab and if I had to guess I imagine I ended up with up with close to 3 1/2 to 4 pounds of pulled belly. Very little waste and just as good or better than pulled pork in our opinion.
