First Spring BBQ - Karubecue
« Reply #-1 on: April 15, 2017, 12:44:24 AM »
So I've had a couple smoke sessions on my new Karubecue so far and I really like it. Read A LOT about it before hand so in general I feel everything has been as advertised. It's interesting because there is a change in what you focus on while smoking with a smoker like this and in general, I've enjoyed the change. With my old kamado, you select your fuel at the beginning (lump and some chunks), and then it's all about tending the vents and meat. With my karubecue, there is no vent management or airflow control, its all tending a fire, selecting/cutting/sourcing my wood, and playing with the food (don't even really need to). I much prefer playing with a fire to playing with vents.

Anyways, the food is great. Here are some pics from a dinner I put on for my colleagues yesterday. Prime beef short ribs from Costco, lamb ribs and shanks from my local Halal butcher, and some chicken thighs for good measure.

Cheers.

Uh Oh! You done did it now, lol! Once you KBQ, you don't go back to your other cookers. Since owning mine I have not smoked anything on my other cookers. It is, bar none, the best smoker I've ever owned by a landslide. Enjoy yours as I know you will :)

Welcome to the forum too BTW!

A revolving door of cookers and smokers. Some are keepers, some are here today, gone tomorrow!

Welcome to the forum...are you sure you've only done a "couple of smokes" before this one?  Looks like some mighty good food!
Between you and RG, y'all are gonna rock us with even MORE great cooks on that new contraption.
