Wings in the Cuisinart Air Fryer
« Reply #-1 on: December 16, 2017, 07:32:32 PM »
Next up was wings in the Cuisinart Air Fryer.  I like the size of the basket, I had whole wings, I cut the tip off but didn't separate the drum and the flat.  The basket held what would've been 18 wing sections, could have held more if separated.

In the Cuisinart at 400* for 20 minutes.

They look good, evenly cooked, I did rotate the tray 180* halfway through and flip the wings.

Did the rest of the wings the same only sprinkled on some rub, gave a better appearance

The verdict?  Tasted good, but no discernable difference from oven baked wings.  Not even close to deep fried in oil.  Maybe we didn't spray enough oil on them, a rookie mistake from posts I've read.  I really don't think that will make a big difference.

I'm not sure my Cuisinart is working properly.  In the top there are 4 heaters, I only see the front and the back glowing red.  I'm not convinced the middle two are working, they don't glow red, I attributed it to the fan blowing on them from above
I'll probably be sending it back for a refund.   >:(

Confirmed with my laser thermometer that all 4 heating elements in the top are indeed working.  Thought I'd try wings again.
this time I cut them up, salted and dried them in the fridge on a rack overnight.  They came out fantastic.  I think leaving them whole was the problem yesterday.  Didn't expose enough surface area.

Will have to try the fries again, I think they just needed a little more oil for frying.  Want to try a blooming onion also.  I think this oven will be a keeper.
