Title: Looking for a new smoker
Post by: AroundTheHorn2 on December 01, 2017, 06:09:56 PM: I am looking for a new smoker. Budget is about $300. I have limited space so nothing to long. Must be durable and can be easily moved to shed when not in use. Have dogs who like to shred grill and smoker covers. I will most be cooking for my family and sometimes immediate family, which would total 10max for both and 4 for my family. Something that's easy to manage that produces great meat.

Have owned WSMs - and nothing wrong with them either. But, I do think there are some advantages to the PBC.... Simpler. No water pan. And - none needed for the most tender, juicy food.
And - while it was designed to run a little hotter than a true "low and slow" temp. range - you will find many threads here showing you how to make it cook in the 250F range.
And - it can get hot enough to grill as well...by leaving the lid ajar.
I has larger capacity, and is of heavier construction that the WSM as well.

It will give you all the capacity you need and the accessories are so well thought out, they really enhance the PBC experience.

299 and free shipping, just can't beat that for a cooker that can hold 6-8 racks of ribs at one time..............

My favorite smoker. Some of the absolute best bbq I have made has come from my WSM.

Ninety-five percent of my cooking is done on mine. One of the best things about going in this direction, other than the obvious - I also have a great grill - is the variety of accessories available for you down the road, should you choose.

Here is mine cooking a couple of pork butts taht I took on the Annual Family Beach Trip and with the addition of a 22.5" grill grate and a couple of stove bolts, some beef short ribs for dinner that night.

I don't have one yet, but I do 90 percent of my cooking on my 22" Weber Kettle with the Slow n Sear and Drip n Griddle. Although the Weber WSM is a great option, I sold both my 18 and 22 since as I said I do most of my smoking and grilling now on the 22" kettle. The other 10 percent of the time is either on my pellet grill or Blackstone griddle.

I'm not sure which one I will choose, but I have a tougher decision than that, convince my wife to let me buy one or the other lol. I go to school and don't officially work, so price will be a factor. Will keep y'all updated. Opinions are still appreciated.

Post by: 70monte on January 07, 2018, 01:30:53 PM: Well, if it tells you anything, I had both but got rid of my WSM's this past year but still have the PBC. It is easier to use and cooks more food with it's hanging ability.

The weber kettle with the slow n sear is also a nice setup.
