Bacon Buttermilk Biscuits!
« Reply #-1 on: August 12, 2015, 08:45:54 PM »
This recipe is for an oven but make it on the pellet grill for better flavor.

2 Cups Flour, 3 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt 5 TBSP. vegetable shortening, 2/3 cup buttermilk, 1/2 cup cooked Bacon crumbled.

Preheat oven tol 425 degrees.  Sift flour, baking soda and salt together in a bowl.  Cut in shortening until mixture is the  consistency of tiny meal, then add buttermilk and bacon bits.  Mix until soft dough is formed.  knead lightly on floured board about 20 seconds.  Flour a rolling pin.  roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness.  Cut with floured round cutter and place on greased baking sheet.  Sprinkle a few extra pieces of bacon on top of the biscuits before baking.  Bake biscuits for 12 minutes.  Add a twist to our biscuits by topping with cheddar cheese.
