That time of year again
« Reply #-1 on: May 09, 2017, 08:53:07 PM »
Kimmie found fresh corn on sale and picked up a few.    Now since we are on a low carb diet these are going into the freezer for now.    Later when we will eat some it will be fresh just like the day it was picked

Vacuum sealing really does a great job

Try putting the ears of corn in the freezer for a couple of hours first. Then vacuum bag them. It prevents the vacuum from compressing the kernels too much which can cause your corn kernels to be flattened a little or soft on the top.

BBQ is neither verb or noun. It is an experience.

It's suppose to hit 93 today.  Here comes summer!  I love my vacuum sealer.  Good tip about pre-freezing first.

I'll try that next time but have done this for years with no problems.

Maybe my sealer isn't very strong?    Work great though

Frosted here the last two nights.
I hope to be able to get my garden (what there is going to be of it) out next week.

I don't have room for any corn though.  :( :(

It may be the difference in vac sealers...or the freshness/lack of freshness of the corn I have gotten. But, I have learned that with softer foods - or veggies which can get "mashed" by vacuum...if I freeze them first - then vac. seal, I am happier with the outcome once they are thawed and cooked.
