MAK and bacon
« Reply #-1 on: February 04, 2018, 08:23:55 PM »
MAK makes a heck of a machine.  The temperature in northern Illinois has been hovering between 14F in the afternoon to 7F in the evening, with snow and wind.  During the late afternoon into evening, I smoked my 7-day-brined pork belly on my 2 Star using CookinPellets Perfect Mix.  It turned out perfect.  It's currently cooling off in the garage waiting to be vacuum sealed for 24 hours then sliced.  I cannot say enough good things about my MAK 2 Star.

KJRSmoker---I LOVE the photo of your deck with the MAK uncovered and being used. And next to it, a snow covered other grill. Question, would your deck be safer to walk on with the snow on it, as opposed to scraping off the snow?  We dont get a lot of snow where we live in Oregon and so not sure if shoveling off the snow would make a difference so far as safety is concerned.   Keep on  Smokin;'!

I also have another grill behind me from where I took the picture - my gas grill.  I shoveled off the snow just to clear a path to the smoker.  I usually shovel off what I can because I have thought about how much the snow weighs.  However, I have no doubt the the deck is able to withstand the added weight of the snow.  And we have a stray neighborhood cat that likes to come on our porch to the door to get some food.
