1st cook on the air fryer
« Reply #-1 on: February 26, 2017, 10:32:35 PM »
Did my first cook on the air fryer- decided to do fries and chicken.

I did the mod that Tomcrete did to add a second shelf.

Bucket with stainless screws to hold the shelf.

Added the shelf- ready to cook

The class picture, chicken soaking in buttermilk, and hot sauce

Did the fries first- couldn't fit both the chicken in fries in one basket

I think I left them in too long s they were a bit well done.

Took the chicken out of the buttermilk and rolled in flour and put in the basket. Put the drumsticks on the bottom as I figured they would cook faster than the thighs.

Chicken done ( had to let the legs cook longer after I took the thighs out)

Plated

Observations:
Next time i won't leave the fries in as long.
The chicken was very juicy and had a good taste. But it wasn't as crispy as I would like. Next time I will spray a little olive oil on it.
All in all I like the fryer. Next will be some fried fish.

Why couldn't Noah have swatted the 2 mosquitoes?.

Gus..ya just have to play with it for timing..depends on the the size of the fries..the skinny fries cook much quicker. I always use a misto with light olive oil in it for anything with breading to help brown it. Makes it crispier and I process the Panko crumbs a lil bit because they take too long to cook and tend to burn more. Ya did a great job on the mod tho. I recently did mine too with all left over parts..keep trying.. .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

That's pretty good for the first time. A lite spray of olive oil first will cook all the breading crispier. I'm going to try chicken in mine tonight.

Gus, that crust on the chicken looks just like it was pan fried. Beautiful.
How long did you have to cook the chicken to get it done?

Not sure exactly- I just pressed the "chicken" button so I think it was 20 minutes. After I took them out I put the legs back in for about 5 more minutes.

That probably sounds about right.
I have never done full sized legs, but I have done wings & drummies, & they took about 20 minutes.
I like mine very well done.
