New Air Fryer
« Reply #-1 on: December 12, 2017, 05:13:48 PM »
Never heard if them until I joined this board. So, my lovely wife bought me a Farberware Air Fryer. Tonight, gonna try some chicken and fries in it. But, is there a place that has recipes, so I could get some ideas? Just wish it was dinner time.

It's basically a convection oven on steroids. You can really adapt any recipe for the AF

Funny you make that analogy.  We've cooked things in our convection oven that have come out close to fried without the oily residue on the fingers.  Didn't quite have the crunch we'd like but was still good.  Hope the air fryer we are going to try for the first time this weekend adds the crunch.

Good to hear, congrats on the new cooker.  If you have time maybe post some pics of future cooks.  Love to see the food porn.
Wings and sweet tater fries will be our first cook.  Hope we're as happy with our results as you are with yours.

My wife recently purchased an air fryer which I was not impressed with the first results on the potato fries. We purchased a french fry cutter and pre-steam the potatoes and then run them through the cutter. I prefer the 1/4 " cut. Before you fry them give them a light salting with your favorite seasoned salt. Do it before you cook them because it will not stick well when they are cooked. I found Lawrys  seasoned salt is great for me. When you get some of the moisture out of the spuds by steaming them they seem to crisp up better. Besides they go through the slicer easier when they are a little cooked. Don't over steam the potatoes. We tried both white and yellow and they both have their own Merritt.
