Strawberry Vodka Anyone?
« Reply #-1 on: May 26, 2015, 09:29:14 PM »
We attended the funeral of my DIL's grandfather, a 30-year veteran from the USMC in Swansboro, NC this past weekend.  While we were in the area I spotted a farmer's market with freshly picked strawberries.  They looked so good that I bought a flat for $24.  Two-thirds of the strawberries are in the container below with the vodka.  Time to wait till all the good flavor is transferred to the vodka.  Probably a week to ten days till I strain the liquid and refrigerate.

Actually, I have been doing this for about 35 years.  I could teach some of these college boys a few tricks.

I CAN relate to Animal House.  All too well, according to my wife.  "Grade point 0.00", you know the rest.

Great looking strawberry infused vodka. Would love to taste the results.

I do not drink very many hard liquor type drinks but do love a hot and spicy bloody mary early in the morning especially in the Winter season or at a bbq contest. I make these drinks with some very hot and spicy infused vodka.

This is 1-1/2 gallon of my vodka getting happy. The veggies out of this jar sure makes for a great pot roast!

What will you do with your strawberry infused vodka?

Once I am done letting the vodka get happy, I will strain the strawberries out and let them drain.  I will probably have to strain the vodka at least one more time using some cheese cloth.  Back into the bottle and into the refrigerator.  Sometimes I will put the bottle into the freezer and let the "water" from the strawberries freeze and then pour off the remaining strawberry infused vodka.  Not sure what I will do this time.

The one thing I hope to be able to do is bring some to the Ohio Gathering, if that's okay.
