L A the Guru of the Akorn...
« Reply #-1 on: February 06, 2017, 07:53:55 PM »
I've been working with my Akorn for a couple of years, but I've never had the results like today's.

After following instructions about the Tip Top Temp from Lost Arrow, I was able to hold a temp of 300* for over 3 hours.  Noting my success, I adjusted the dial to hold 350*.  It climbed and has held at 350* with no deviation for over 4 1/2 hours.  It is still holding so I am just letting it go till the coals burn out.  I'll be checking later.

Thanks, L A, for giving me control of the Akorn.  Now I have and set it and forget it cooker when I want one.
Thanks, Deb, for giving me the T T T for Christmas.

I've got one, but I can't get the thing to stay on my Weber grill. So it is with the rest of my "non-used, HAVE TO HAVE accessories in storage!  8) ;D

Mike, I also use the T T T on the Weber.  In fact, I got one because of the way Terry used it at the Cookout with Bremer last fall.  It just sits there - kinda loose - and does its job. I have to take it off when I open the grill, but I like the way it holds the temp.

I tell you Jack , Debs a great lady for sure.
I use my TTT pretty often. It works very well after a little practice  and knowing about how many coals to use. (Something I do by site not by counting coals). I have considered mounting it but I also use the vent so maybe maybe not...   I also thought about mounting a ring of sorts to the grill that the TTT could just sit in or on when I want to use it. But I've been kinda lazy lately.

With the picture hanger mount system it's like the TTT was made for the Akorn.

I'll be doing a chicken in the Akorn tomorrow.  Haven't used it in a while but after learning the "secret" I am looking forward to it.
Thanks again
