Tip on protecting the BlackStone griddle
« Reply #-1 on: February 11, 2017, 04:35:30 PM »
For any of you who have the BlackStone Flat-top griddle, I found something that works very well to help protect it from the elements.
I found these at Menards.

I have the 28 in. model & two of these fit perfectly on the top.
This keeps the cover from laying down against the top surface.

They are an absolutely perfect fit for the 28 in., but I'm sure would work very well on the 36 in. also. (or probably the Camp Chef or other flat-top)
I then put the BlackStone cover on. It looks too big but I didn't leave the shelf on to store it. It also is a good fit with the shelf on.

I then covered it with a tarp.
At the moment my various cooking toys are sitting on an uncovered deck, But very shortly I will have a roof over them.

Nice! I just use a full sized aluminum pan turned upside down. Works great! Redneck solution at its finest...lol!!

I just take one of those domes that you put over food to melt cheese and put it in the center of my Camp Chef and then put the cover over that. It makes a teepee out of it to shed the rain. Another issue here in the South that I have to contend with is the humidity. I figured as long as I keep it seasoned it shouldn't rust but I bet the bottom of the griddle will still rust.

I wish I had those when we were in the mountains. Mine would have snow on it for up to 3 weeks at a time..............

That is what I'm doing with mine also.  I have a OnlyFire brand cover that is made for the BS28.  Mine is on a covered porch, but rain can blow in with wind, so it does need a cover. So far the made to fit cover with the full sized pan does the trick just fine.

You will find them in with the guttering/downspouts, etc. at Menards.

As you can see from the tarped picture, they create a totally flat surface, & fit perfectly inside the flange of the 28 in. griddle.
