My cooking habits
« Reply #-1 on: August 10, 2017, 08:13:35 PM »
Curious how other people do a few of the kitchen basics.

Oven mitt or towel? I have always been a towel person.

Salt? Do you pinch it from a bowl or shake it? I'm a pincher.

Pepper? Grind fresh or shake? I shake cuz I'm lazy.

Apron? Not on your life :)

Cook with other people in the kitchen? No way for me.

I shake it in the kitchen when no one is watching......Is that what you meant? ;D

I would have been disappointed if you had responded any differently.

Okay, after standing in the corner for 15 minutes I'm back. ???
I use two large potholders. Usually have a towel nearby or on my shoulder but because I wash my hands a LOT when I cook. Clean or paranoid....I don't know.
Salt... definitely pinched.
Pepper, fresh ground preferred, but if I'm in a hurry measured from a tin.
Apron...sometimes, depends what I'm cooking. Splattery stuff demands an apron.
People in kitchen....gonna go with Yogi Berra on this one. I'm either alone or with someone. Really being Italian, the kitchen is where we gather.

I use a hot mitt.  I only grind my pink salt and fresh pepper.  I just think it's fresher.  I have five aprons.  Never wore any of them.  I don't cook much in the kitchen.  That's my wife's domain.  I'm a outside cooker.  Flip flops, shorts and a tank top.  In the winter time I put on a sweatshirt.  Same flip flops.

Aprons............nope.  Hot mitts.........yup. Shake salt and pepper outside, Wendy has grinders inside. Outside smoker and griller (charcoal and flat-top).  Attire:  Denim and manly footwear (Jeans and Boots). Straw hat in the summer........Beaver felt in the winter.

Ok, now that it is G-rated, :D :D :D

Pot holders
Shake both salt & pepper
Never tried an apron, but if someone bought me a nice frilly one....oh, sorry , off track again.
I do all the cooking in my house, so the kitchen is mine (until after we eat, when V cleans up),  :)
and as we have a small one "stay out of my kitchen when I'm cooking".
But out on the cook deck it's a party!

I really do like having them. My advice is to get a decent linen one. Not one of the heavy denim or canvas ones, and not an elcheapo novelty with some picture or "BBQ Dad" on the front.

I almost always wear an apron.  My reminder cue to put it on is slopping something all over my shirt  ::)

About the same here, no apron, salt and pepper whatever is handy. Use a lot of potholders and dishtowel. Definitely stay out of my kitchen, it's small and a one person area! Wife usually does all the cleaning; except what I clean during the process. Don
