Has anyone published a cookbook ? ..seeking advice
« Reply #-1 on: September 15, 2017, 03:54:24 PM »

I'd like to write a cookbook someday however I don't even know exactly where to start , I do a lot of writing and recipe developing already , I know plenty of photographers even myself that can take some decent food porn shots , I just need to know what's next from here. I even have an interest in blogging but more then anything I'd like to write cookbooks in my future , books that will hopefully become favorites amongst the barbecue & food community and spark inspiration , recipes that break the rules but also learning and understanding traditions , a book where beginners can learn and grow while also having chapters and sections to comeback to when they seek more challenging recipes., a book that will highlight unsung heroes in my region and local community ,a bit of history as well. I'm excited to start researching and even some traveling for my projects. Any tips, advice, guidance Is appreciated !! ... thank you :).

I think thats a great project!
I just googled it. A couple of interesting options came up.  Look for high BBB rating and double check them carefully before spending any real money.  You're doing the right thing now by asking.  I like your initial theme of highlighting local traditions. The research should be a blast.
Jack Daniels has a cookbook that follows just this idea. Recipes from the people in the Lynchburg area of Tennessee. It's a great little book.

Good luck I hope you can get this done!

Good luck. Sounds great. I'm more of a blog fan, I haven't bought a cookbook in a really long time. Ran out of room, and found I wasn't using them.

Send a PM to Smoker Pete. He has written and published an excellent cookbook. Here is a link: https://smile.amazon.com/Wood-Pellet-Smoker-Grill-Cookbook-ebook/dp/B01E2XN3JK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1505505919&sr=8-2&keywords=wood+smoker+and+pellet+cooking+book

Added his book to my wish list ! , I will certainly message him , thank you so much :)

Very generous of you for googling ! I'll look more into it from there and yes here in my area of California, the central valley  there is a lot of passion for BBQ especially in my town of Fresno and there are some local's and business I would love to profile in my book. I collect a lot of cookbooks and have alot of the Jack Daniels ones and they are southern classics :).

My book was published by a book company (Ten Speed Press now part of Random House). It was not self-published.

You should find a good agent (hard to do if you're not an established writer).

Good luck!! Finding an interested publisher is hard to do... most companies aren't interested in hard copy books because most your content is probably already on the Web.
