Had to replace my Food Saver
« Reply #-1 on: November 17, 2017, 10:07:05 PM »
I got a Food Saver Professional ll sometime around 1997/1998.  I died a few weeks back:

Das machine is nicht fur gefingerpoken und mittengrabben.  Ist easy
schnappen der springenwerk, blowenfusen und corkenpoppen mit
spitzensparken.  Ist nicht fur gewerken by das dummkopfen.  Das
rubbernecken sightseeren keepen hands in das pockets.  Relaxen und
vatch das blinkenlights!!!

That sums it up.  Just flashing lights.  Pushing buttons and such had no effect. Just kept blinking at me. So I started looking for a replacement and contacting various companies.  As popular as the VacMaster and Weston units were, I settled on one that I had never heard of before, and there were very few comments, but most were satisfied.  The LEM 1088A. It was on sale through LEM and just for signing up for emails, I got another 10% off.

UPDATE:  The LEM arrived and was put into service prepping for Thanksgiving dinner.  We roast a lot of root vegetables and squash for this annual meal and the prep - peeling, cleaning, cutting, etc.  is very time consuming.  So with a new sealer to try out, all the prep was done a couple of days in advance. I have to say the MaxVac worked flawlessly. A very robust unit I could not be more satisfied.  And I was able to use some of my old Food Saver bags with the unit without a problem.  Overall, I am impressed and would recommend this unit without hesitation.

got a lot of years out of the FS.  The LEM has all the signs of a well made unit. I like it a lot.  And now it is 25% off.  Phase out I suppose.
