Back to my 1st love
« Reply #-1 on: February 13, 2018, 04:27:19 PM »
Has most of you know I have had my share of smokers.  My favorite type of smokers are charcoal smokers.  I can control the heat and amount of smoke really, really well.  I sold my 22 WSM when I got my hunsaker.  Love the hunsaker a lot.  Cooked ribs hot and fast to perfection.  My wife didn't like the flavor of the food coming off the hunsaker.  So, bye bye hunsaker.  So I got myself a very old 18 WSM.  Brand new from a old navy guy.  I went over one night and his wife was happy not having to lug this smoker all over the world anymore.  $100.  Military discount she said and took the money.  The old radar tech chief didn't say a word.  1st cook had to be ribs.  Didn't care what the temp was just cook by feel.  You guys know what I'm talking about.  My wife was happy.  So, all is good in Sparky's world.

Ps:. Took up golf 6 months ago.  Handicap of 36 (can't get any higher) when I started.  Welp, yesterday I went to haggin oaks and shot a 84 from the whites.  best score ever for me.. New handicap is 22.2.  I'm so damn happy.

Love my WSM.

A little FL.

Good for you Sparky. It's good to hear good news!  Lots of toys come our way but I think most of the time what we learned on or the simple stuff is the best.
Anything can be made complicated , difficult, OCDed to death but its hard to beat just simple.
As for golf I have avoided that one. I spend too much cash on grills, fishing and hunting. Like those , If I took up golf it would be a $20 used putter then a 200 dollar putter then one of those putters that looks like it has a drone attached.... ....   so I just avoid it.
Enjoy the WSM and your golf!   8)

Great to see a Sparky rib cook again.   Your wife is not a big fan of barrel smoked chow. Neither is mine.

Keep the box on that WSM, that will be a classic one day.

Oh, yeah....
That's what we're talking about!

Doggone, it's great to see such ribs from "His Sparkyness".

Sparky,
You did it again!!  Great looking ribs from the MASTER!!  Sure wish we lived closer.

P.S.  Beware of the myriad of "golf gimmicks".  I have a section of my basement dedicated to my last couple of sets of clubs and accessories.

Great lookin' ribs.
I used to do both charcoal & golf.
I gave both of them up.
The last time I went to play golf, I returned home & my wife (wife #2), had packed her belongings & left me. True story, I swear.
It's OK. I really don't miss her or the golf. I have however though about trying charcoal again.

Good looking food! I miss my old charcoal smoker, I make do the best I can on Weber Performer now. Golf... I tried that, first time I set foot on a course I shot a 96, then I had to play the back nine. Now Putt Putt is a whole different story.
