Another new smoker
« Reply #-1 on: February 18, 2016, 10:06:21 PM »
After years of talking about the quality of the Smokin-it line of smokers, based upon my limited hands on with my brothers model 3, I took delivery tonight of a new SI Model 3D.  These smokers impressed me in 2012 and I am very impressed with the new model with the integrated digital controller.  It's build is very solid.  A lot of bang for the buck.

Sorry.  No pictures.  But I can say they were superb. The SI is truly an excellent smoker. It is very easily the equal of my Cookshack at 1/3d the cost.  And that makes it a better value, not that there is anything wrong with Cookshack which is a great smoker.

So, here is my outdoor cooking gear with the new smoker sitting next to the cookshack for comparison.  The SI appears wider than the CS in the photo but is actually narrower, but deeper.

I like my CS but not everyone can afford one. And I have been commenting on the quality of SI since 2012 based upon some limited hands in so it was time to have my own so comments would be more relevant.  And the SI is much more affordable and every bit as good. And now I can comment on the digital controller built in on the SI and I could not do so before. By the way, the SI controller is more versatile than that on my CS. But both are very good.
