Brisket for the 1000th time
« Reply #-1 on: December 18, 2016, 06:38:41 AM »
You've seen one you've seen'em all! Yesterday's cook, the one where I got up before most sane people would to sit in relative cold and play with fire as documented HERE

There was also a butt involved but enough about my Saturday night, lol! (No pics of the butt, you're welcome)

I also had Steph put 2 chicken breasts on to smoke toward the end of the cook when everything was getting about done. A pound of meat from each will go into a Brunswick Stew recipe from Southern Soul BBQ that is supposed to be really good. We shall see!

The recipe can be found HERE

Although I don't have their sauces, I will use what I have to get as close to it as I can and I also will be using frozen veggies. Should be edible, if not I'll be a little pissed that I wasted 3 pounds of meat :P

I'll report back, good, bad or indifferent.

Thanks for looking!

This is going to sound bizarre so I will ask for forgiveness in advance :P

I am about sick and tired of eating BBQ! Whew! There, I said it. What a load off, lol.

In all seriousness, I need to take a break from that dang KBQ and start using my other cookers. I mostly did this cook just to get ingredients to make the dang stew. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious but I need to chill out on the smoked foods for a while. Tonight I will be using leftovers to make a creation (you'll see later!) and of course the stew. After that, I will be taking a long pause I think. Keep in mind that is subject to change as I have been known to do that :)

You are forgiven RG. Sometimes you need to clear your palate and let your smokers cool down for a couple of days. We have all been in your boots.

Brisket looks real moist with a nice smoke ring. Is that one of those fancy dancy SRF ones or is it from the market??

2 known cures for this:

1. Sous Vide

2. Instant Pot

Those 2 items can give you a break in "style" of cooking...and make some incredible stuff in their own right!

Good call Tim. There is something about having a crock pot going when it is cold out to make you feel all warm and fuzzy.

Well if you are going to take a break from smoking that brisket is a great finish.
Looks so delicious it made me hungry enough to venture out to my favorite BBQ place in Savannah about a mile away.
