A Most Unique Ale
« Reply #-1 on: March 17, 2016, 03:50:00 PM »
I'm a beer lover. I have my favorite styles of brewed goodness for sure. I'm definitely an ale-man! But I like to try all types of beers. Recently I came across probably the most unique style of beer I have ever tried. It's called Otra Vez. It's a gose-style ale that has been brewed for the last THOUSAND YEARS!  That's right a thousand years. The German's I believe started to brew this.  Sierra Nevada makes the Otra Vez,  and there was concern it would become extinct, as hardly anyone brews it in our modern era. It's a sour, salty tasting concoction made with prickly pear cactus and grapefruit.. My first sip didn't impress me one bit. By the third sip tho I was thinking this could be a class A Summer quencher! A six-pack later, I would definitely buy this again but it probably won't ever be one of my favorites. A most unique beer with a long storied history.
Cheers! 8)

MB it is a sour beer. Google gose-style ale and check out it's long history.
