Important Info about A Browser Hijack - PLEASE READ!!!
« Reply #-1 on: July 04, 2015, 02:45:16 PM »
The past week or so we've gotten some reports about Hyperlinks appearing within forum posts that take you to external sites.

First, let me assure you that it is NOT the forum doing this, nor is it being generated by the forum software.

If you are seeing these hyperlinks then it is being generated on YOUR computer which has most likely been infected by what's know as a "Text-Enhance" browser hijack.

This type of infection often piggybacks into your computer from something that you downloaded, such as: "freeware," plugins on "free games" websites, torrents (stay away from torrents - they are BAD business!), etc.

You can do a Google/Yahoo search for "remove text enhance hijack" and find many helpful articles on this topic.

There are some good anti-malware software packages available.  I run MalwareBytes on our PC's periodically to help keep this sort of thing out.  They offer a free limited version, which you can download here: Malwarebytes

Thanks!

Cliff

Thanks for the heads up Cliff! ;)
I might add if you have a security software protecting your computer you can scan ANY download you do thru your defense software before running or opening. This should be done IMMEDIATELY after you download anything from an unknown provider. It's getting harder to be safe as time goes on.
