First pie on Cabela's Ultimate Cookstation
« Reply #-1 on: May 01, 2016, 07:51:40 PM »
The free pizza oven included with the cookstation sealed the deal. I've been using the griddle and finally decided to set up the pizza oven tonight.

I normally make my own dough, but I knew it would be too sticky to slide in the oven, so I went with Krogers' pre-made thin crust and made a simple pepperoni pizza.

I should have done my research first  :o

It cooked SO fast. The crust was black on the bottom, before the top was as done as I like. It was edible and did not taste as burnt as it looked (or smelled), but it definitely could have been better.

Time to start doing some forum searches...

"Real" pizza ovens cook FAST as you learned. We need to think differently about toppings - how we prepare them, how many we use, and how thick we make or layer them. "Garbage pizzas" generally don't work well. Pre-cooking many ingredients is critical, double or triple cheese not a good idea. Simple is key - and delicious! Yours sure looks good and with practice you will like them even better. The best part is, we get to eat our mistakes!

Keep posting your pies!

What he said..I make my own dough and when dough is sticky like that..just dip it in some flour and put cornmeal on the peel and roll it out.  Slides right in oven and off peel..less is more also.   .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.
