Amish Friendship Bread

Received a starter from a friend to make this bread.  Ten days later, it was ready to be made.  With the temps in the 90s, decided to cook the bread on my MAK.  Turned out fantastic.

I received the starter but here is the recipe for it:
    1 (0.25oz) package active dry yeast
    1/4 cup warm water (110*F)
    1 cup all purpose flour
    1 cup white sugar
    1 cup milk
In small bowl, dissolve yeast in water and let stand 10 minutes.
In 2-quart non-metallic bowl, combine flour and sugar.  Mix thoroughly with whisk or fork.
Slowly stir in milk and dissolved yeast mixture.
Cover loosely and let stand at room temperature until bubbly.
Measure 1 cup portions into gallon ziploc bags.  Consider this day 1 of the 10 day cycle.

Here is what to with the starter:
DO NOT use any type of metal spoon or bowl.
DO NOT refrigerate.
It is normal to rise, bubble and ferment.  Burp as needed.
Day 1:  Do nothing
Day 2: Mush the bag
Day 3: Mush the bag
Day 4: Mush the bag
Day 5: Mush the bag
Day 6: Add to the bag - 1 cup flour, 1 cup white sugar, 1 cup milk; mush the bag
Day 7: Mush the bag
Day 8: Mush the bag
Day 9: Mush the bag
Day 10: Follow the instructions below
    Pour entire contents of the bag into a non-metal bowl
    Add 1 1/2 cup flour, 1 1/2 cup white sugar, 1 1/2 cup milk and mix.
    Measure 1 cup of batter into 4 1-gallon ziploc bags.  Label with date.  Keep one and give away the other 3 along with copy of recipe.
    Preheat oven to 325*F
    Add to batter:
      3 eggs
      1 cup vegetable oil
      2 tsp cinnamon
      1 cup white sugar
      1/2 cup milk
      1/2 tsp vanilla extract
      1 1/2 tsp baking powder
      1/2 tsp baking soda
      2 cups AP flour
      1 large box instant vanilla pudding
      1/2 tsp salt
    Grease 2 large loaf pans with butter.  In small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup white sugar and 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon. 
    Dust the greased pans with half of the mixture.
    Pour batter evenly into the two pans and sprinkle remaining sugar mixture over the top.
    Bake for 1 hour.  Cool bread until it loosens evenly from the pan (about 10 minutes).  Serve warm or cold.

The bread is pretty tasty.  I usually only cook it about 55minutes and leave it a little gooey in the middle.  ENJOY!

Same Day Amish Friendship Bread
Starter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup flour
Bread
1 cup oil
1/2 cup milk
3 whole eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1(5 1/8 ounce) box instant vanilla pudding (or flavor of your choice).
Mix "starter" ingredients together. Mix oil, milk, eggs, and vanilla with the "starter".In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, baking soda, vanilla pudding mix, and nuts. Add to liquid mixture and stir thoroughly.Pour into two large well-greased 9x5 inch loaf pans, one Bundt pan, or 48 muffin tins.Bake at 325F for one hour or until done (muffins will take only 30-35 minutes) and enjoy!

Nice to have more than one version...I like the sound of the one with the vanilla pudding...Seems like it may be more moist and dessert bread like.
