Meatloaf with the SnS
« Reply #-1 on: April 25, 2017, 10:14:51 AM »
Have been wanting to try to make a meatloaf on the grill  for a while now.  Finally decided to do it.  Figured would try with  Weber with the SnS.
I put together my "usual " meatloaf recipe  formed it on some foil and place it on the grill.
I have struggled to manage temps in my few trys with the SnS in the past.  This time i was able to get it to 275 without a problem.
I cooked to an IT of 150 and covered with a glaze and opened the vents.
I wanted to pull at 160 but the glaze hadn't caramelized yet so left to about 165.
Ended up with a pretty tasty meal.

Do you really need to use foil, or would a Frog mat work better?

I debated between  putting it directly on the grill and  foil. Opted for the foil,  you can see the smoke ring stops at the sides and didn't go in the bottom.

At the time I didn't own a Frogmat, I have one on order now.

Something I found online.

1 cup catsup
1/4 cup brown sugar
2.5 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon   hot sauce.

Combined all in sauce pan  and simmer for about 5 minutes to thicken

OK thanks!   I like a lot of crust/bark on my meatloafs reason I was asking.

Seems if you used a Frog mat it would have a crust/bark on the bottom
