Title: Ortech Controller squashed upgrade plan!
Post by: Smokin Soon on January 12, 2018, 09:01:22 PM
My Traeger 070 is having it's 10th birthday in June. I have been wanting to upgrade for the last 5 years, but the better half is very satisfied with the food from the Traeger. At one point I got her interested in the Memphis, as she liked the look. After trying some Q off of one, we both thought it was the same as ours. Typical guy response of "Yeah, but" didn't go far.
Lately, the Traeger has had problems getting over 350. Tried different pellets, all the same. Wife admitted it might be time to upgrade, but could I do something until after taxes? Tried another Traeger controller I had, same results. I like the Savannah, but it's beyond what the wife can handle, as she uses it also.
Picked up an Ortech for $72 off Ebay, and to my surprise the thing came alive again. Very steady smoke at 150, snapped up to 395 quickly, wings and drummies happy again, as we have not been able to do them.

Now it's time for plan "B"

Always good to have a back up plan.
