The Electric Big Easy (BEESR)
« Reply #-1 on: June 20, 2012, 12:45:09 AM »

The Electric Big Easy (BEESR)  Is the little brother of TBE. This unit uses a 120v electrical heating element to heat the 12in chamber and has a built in smoker box like the SRG does. The heater element lites the wood chips/pellets in about 15 mins then you are ready to start cooking. The BEESR needs a warm up time where TBE or SRG do not.

The BEESR is a great little cooker in it's own right. This unit features 15 preset temperature settings. They range from 125 to 525 temps (1-15) where setting 15 gives good results like TBE yet you can turn it down and get great results as a smoker. The BEESR comes with a temp prob that will give you the IT of the meat your cooking and will turn the unit off when it hits the temp you set it for. The BEESR also comes with a upper basket (TBE and SRG don't) this basket works great for baking or adding another hunk of meat to the cook. They list for 229.00 on the CharBroil site but look around you can get them for around 125.00.

There are a few draw backs with this unit, but for the most part it's bullet proof.
1. warm up time is a must
 2. smaller than the SRG so you can't cook a butt over 8 lbs (I tried 8 lbs seems to be the limit).
3. You have to watch where you plug it in, the circuit you use must not be over taxed or cooking ability will be altered.

I own two of these and will not part with them. This cooker is worth every penny

The BEESR is worth it's weight in gold to me. I like the convenience of plugging it in and going for it. No propane to mess with, so wht ya gotta warm it up..I can hang with that. great machine.  Pammie  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ

I love to use all 3 units but by far the one I go to the most is the SRG.     Best all around cooker and you can feed a lot of folks since it is the largest of the bunch.

Just introduce the new new unit as Charbroil Charlie.   The gals shouldn't mind a multi-tasking fellow hanging out with them  :D.

Might check Craigslist for the original TBE to get a taste of that style of cooking. With the superb equipment that Sparky has I do not think that butts would even be considered. My main use of my 2 TBE's that are 4 years old and beat to death and going strong is poultry. I will cold smoke any kind of poultry, season, wrap, into the fridge for the night and cook at home, wings for the boys at work, take to your friend's bbq that you know can't cook. Probably have cooked 600 or so wings away from home. As for a smoker , I have cooked on a neighbors SRG and I was not impressed. I cold smoke stuff in my Bradley, cook in the TBE, Traeger or sear on a cheapo gasser.

Looks like the old BEESR is back after a hiatus!  I saw it on HSN network this month :)

I love this smoker.  I use the TMB 15-10-8 method on it for the best pulled pork!   So I'm glad to see its making a comeback.

I decided to break out the BEESR and try a butt, but it will not come on.
It has not been used for a while...anyone have this same problem.
