Using Imgur for Photohosting WHY AM I JUST NOW FINDING OUT ABOUT THIS! thanks RG

Well, I have been enlightened thanks to our buddy RG.  He suggested imgur as a photohosting site.  It works great.  Easy Peasy.  I uploaded the two photos below, generated the links and had them posted on here in less than one minute.  Seriously.  I have DSL for internet service, 3 mbps download so upload is usually less than 1 mbps.  Previously when using Photobucket I wouldn't resize my photos first and it took forever for them to upload.  RG suggested I size them first using paint, which I did to 800 X 600.  Uploaded almost instantly.  that's the first major improvement.

Using imgur was the second.  Once uploaded all I had to do was click on "view image info", then "generate image links", select the photos I want links for, click on "done".
That opens a box that allows you to select the type of link, select "BBCode" and you can also select image size, I  just left it at the default "original image".  After doing that the links are created and highlighted, they can all be copied and pasted at the same time.  Fantastic, wish I would have know about this much sooner, would have saved me countless hours.  No more copying and pasting one photo at a time as with photobucket.  Thanks again RG

Roget:
What is the cost to use this service?

bamabob:
It's Free.
didn't get any popups or advertising to slow things down.
but then I use Kaspersky total protection which may block them.
but IT'S FREE

Not sure how they pay the bills not charging anything or popups.  The interface is nice looking also.

That is great advice  , especially since we have the forum settings to allow a max of size of 800 pixels wide anyway.  Reducing the photo BEFORE you upload them to your photo account not only makes uploading much quicker, but it also drastically reduces the amount of storage space your photos take up, AND it makes viewing the forum faster for everyone.

It just keeps getting better.  I recently bought a new laptop running Windows 10.  I downloaded an app called "resize crop share email" which makes sizing pictures even easier.  Just open the app, select the photos and select the size you want.  done.
Then within that app you can share those photos.  Well, I discovered that imgur has an app so I downloaded it.  So after sizing the photos, select share and imgur and the photos are uploaded to imgur.
Then to post them on the forum just open imgur and do what I described in my first post in this thread.

Thanks Photobucket for going belly up and making my life easier.  I live in a rural area with my internet through my local phone company  I checked my upload speed and it s a measly 0.34 mbps.  Before when I would upload full size photos to photobucket I would start the upload and come back 10 minutes later and maybe it would be done.  Now it's literally seconds.  I just opened the sizing app, selected 4 photos, sized them, uploaded to imgur, created the forum links copied and pasted into a test post in less than one minute!
This sizing app doesn't have an option for 800 X 600 so I chose 640 X 480.  Still provides a nice size photo for posting.
All four photos were sized at the same time, already selected for upload to imgur, when on imgur just select those four photos, create all 4 links at the same time, copy all 4 at the same time and post.  No more one photo at a time.
