My wife used to live in CT and all they talked about up there was Frank Pepe's pizza and Louis' Lunch burgers.  Frank Pepe is know for clam pizza, and Louis' Lunch is apparently the birthplace of the hamburger.  Both are in New Haven, but I have never been to either.  She lived on the other side of the state, and while not big, just never got around to being able to go there.  They are both pretty famous.
