Getting Ready for the 2016 Ohio Gathering - Food
« Reply #-1 on: April 20, 2016, 12:23:37 PM »
I'm already starting my food prep for the Ohio Buckeye Gathering coming up in June.

Here's a few lbs of smoked sausage I just made and plan to bring.

What are you guys planning to bring? Post your picks here.

Cliff

P.S. Keeping my fingers crossed that Don will be posting that he's bringing some more of those Cajun spiced pistachios that he brought last year (hint, hint).

Heck, I haven't even decided what cookers to bring let alone figuring out what to bring or cook at this event. I guess I had better get on the ball and get something going.

Does anyone coming to this gathering have any requests other than the pig shots as we will do some of them? Be more than happy to cook up what ever you folks want.

How about something on the big Weber Ranch Kettle? I sure wish we had a few more people coming and we could do an old fashioned "Pig Pickins". This cooker is a blast to cook on.

Pam, do you have any favorites you want to see on the Cobb Grill?

Anything else...maybe some rotisserie cooking, pellet cooking, Weber kettle cooking, or even some Dutch style camp oven cooking. I'm game for about anything...

Tell me what you would like to eat at the gathering? Are you sick of my ribs?

A couple definite things on my list (besides the smoked sausage posted above):
• Pam and I will double team it again this year to make sausage gravy & biscuits or there may be an uprising!  :P
• I plan to do some Mac & Cheese or Broccoli Mac & Cheese.

I am leaning towards doing some pulled pork.

I have some other ideas as well, but waiting to see what you guys are bringing/doing.

I know one thing that Scallywag is planning to make, but I'll let him share that.

Already on my list, same as last year.   Trust me, I learned my lesson from two years ago!  :D

I'm also making & bringing the sausage for the gravy as per usual.

Dave has posted his tentative food itinerary here: Tentative Food Schedule for the 2016 Ohio Gathering and man does it all look fantastic!

Here's my updated list so far:
• Smoked Sausage (shown above).
• Mac & Cheese or Broccoli Mac & Cheese.
• Ribs (I'm thinking Vidalia Onion & Bourbon Peach Ribs)
• Biscuits and Homemade Sausage (for Pam's sausage Gravy).
• Some kind of Fattie
• Some mixed veggies & homemade Ranch dressing (I have to have some veggies).
• Venison Summer Sausage

Possibilities still on my radar:
• Maybe some pulled pork or Jerk Pork (still waiting to see what others plan to do)

Keep us posted as you figure out what you want to bring/make!
