I never seem to have any luck taking photos from the photobucket and placing them in my avatar.
The photos always seem to get reformated (SQUISHED) sideways.
Take a look at my present plate of bacon, eggs and Spam. See what I mean? The plate doesn't come out very round.
Any ideas?

Yes ask T what is max size for avatars. Go to shrinkpictures.com  and follow the directions. Then use the resized picture for your avatar. easy peasy!

Just a comment for those folks who don't use Photobucket for hosting their images, you can still imbed them into your posts; right click on the image, select properties and when the properties box comes up, highlight (make sure you highlight the entire address), then right click the Address(URL) and select copy. When you go to the post you wish to make, click on the Insert Image icon and will insert itself into your post. Paste the URL that you copied in the middle and when you hit post, you image will be there. :)

T, what's the best size for avatar photos?

Think 1024 x 8860 (?) if that does not do it - try 640 x 480.....

T - I just took a look at yours - it's 150 x 200 pixels.

In an attempt to establish an ideal pixel ratio, say 3:4, so the photo proportions aren't changed when they post as an avatar I measured some by capturing screens and extracting them.  There appear to be various sized avatars.

               212 x 281                                          225 x 210                      225 x 255 (she's not that heavy)

So, there must be some ideal ratio where the photo won't be distorted.  Does anyone have the solution?

BTW, if you can't tell, I don't know a thing about photography or commercial art so I'll admit that my methodology may be flawed.

Edit:  Corrected word choice.

Tee, you probably already know this, but in the forum admin area, if you go to the Forum --> Attachments and avatars --> Avatar settings, you can set the maximum width you want and leave the maximum height blank (zero).  Then in the "If the avatar is too large" setting, set to "Let HTML resize it", the forum software will automatically resize the image to the width you desire, and because you did not specify the height setting, the avatar should be properly proportioned.

I need some update instructions on how to post multiple pictures using Photobucket.  I did not have any problems in the past, but can only get one picture to post at a time.

Well, getting pics here through PB on this PC works, just have to work on sizing. Doing it from the I-Pad is not going so well. I'll keep at it...

Avatar Picture Size Settings

The maximum size for avatar pictures is currently set to:

Width: 160 pixels

Height: 184 pixels

Any pictures bigger than that (in either dimension), are adjusted by the forum software in the HTML code.
