Istanbul Spice Bazaar
« Reply #-1 on: October 25, 2013, 11:44:18 AM »
For someone who loves to cook, the Istanbul Spice Bazaar is a must place to visit.  It is truly an experience to remember.  Those who have been there before will know what I mean.  The sights and smells are memorable.  Two items were heavily promoted by the various vendors:   first, different types of saffron and second, Beluga caviar.  I happen to have a good supply of Iranian saffron.  I decided that I didn’t want to spend most of my “duty-free” money on caviar since I don’t eat it very often.  Besides, this was the beginning of the trip.  The following will be picture heavy with minimal talking.

We were fortunate it was not any busier than it was.  Big crowds equal more pick-pocket opportunities.

Even with all the spices and herbs, I can get most everything here at home.  That helped me to "not buy" while we were there.  We actually bought some nice textiles at the Spice Bazaar.  My wife found some really nice women's shawls/ponchos.  They packed nice and flat in our suitcases.

Art,  We ain't got nuthin' like that here in Augusta.  It looks over whelming to a country boy like me who up until a few years ago knew about only salt and pepper.  Dee

You got away with a logical excuse like that?  Obviously your wife is not a blond.
