John Fogerty Concert
« Reply #-1 on: November 04, 2013, 07:48:12 PM »
My son got four tickets to the John Fogerty Concert last night at the Durham Performing Arts Center.  My son, daughter-in-law, my wife and I sat seven rows back, just left of center stage.  Great tickets and great concert!!  They played straight through for two and a half hours.  John Fogerty must have burned off 5 to 6 thousand calories moving around the stage.  The drummer (really awesome) must have burned off 10 thousand calories!!  He was really rockin’!!  I stood the last forty-five minutes signing and shouting between sounds.  My throat was raw by the end of the evening.  The house totally rocked when they played some of the older CCR music.  I’ll remember this concert for quite a while.  John is four months older than me and he was still rockin’ after all these years!!

On to the pictures.  These were the best of my iPhone pictures for the evening.

P.S.  No “rope burning” here.  Did see a few of the geriatric set doing lines of Metamucil in the aisles, however.

Good for you Art! Sounds and looks like a good time, especially spending it with your family.  Man, that guy has written so many great songs for so many years. I think it's nearly unmatched.

Thanks for sharing Art.

Yes, it would!  To paraphrase Jimmy Buffet, "you have to grow older, but you don't have to grow up!!"

No, I didn't.  There was only one guy who appeared to be really high.  He was a show unto himself.  He didn't have a clue about anyone around him.  He was rocking to the beat of the music.

I saw him back in 1986 and he was still refusing to play the old CCR music and got booed off the stage. Then I got to see him in 97 and 98 when he started playing his old songs again. He brought a guy on stage because he saw that the guy was crying like a baby. John asked him why he was crying. The replied that he never thought he would live to see the day that he would hear Proud Mary played live. John played it two times for him.

Saw him again in 2004 and 2 times in 2009. It never gets old hearing those classic American swamp rock songs.

CCR was signed to Fantasy Records in Berkeley Californian back in 1968. Fantasy was primarily a Jazz label with their big artist being the late great Vince Gauraldi. Years before John had worked at Fantasy in their warehouse. He said even back at that time, he had this entire universe created in his head. A world of hound dogs, misty swamps. The work he created in the short span of -3- years is unequaled in all genres.
