Height adjustable charcoal pan, overall temp?
« Reply #-1 on: June 22, 2017, 10:12:13 AM »
I just got a grill that has the aforementioned adjustable pan. Ive never had something like that before, and Im unsure how to take best advantage of it. The pan with it also has 4 section for charcoal.

Does indirect heat work better if the pan is at a higher setting? I feel like the lower it is the more V shaped the heat coming off the charcoal would be, and the less "indirect" it would be.

I don't have this grill, but looked at the video on the Char Broil site.

If I were going to use this grill for indirect cooking, I think I'd pick up a couple of fire bricks, wrap them in foil, and keep the charcoal pan at it's lowest level.  The fire bricks should block most heat that would come up directly under your meat.

But that is not based on any experience with this type of grill.  Others may have better ideas.
