Chicken and sweet corn last night
« Reply #-1 on: August 22, 2014, 09:43:37 AM »
We finally got a bit of a break from the rain andI remembered that we had a chicken in the fridge. Also, I have been meaning to try to smoke some fresh sweet corn and we had a bunch of that. So, I fired up the PBC, split and rubbed the chicken, and then hung the chicken from the rods.

After an hour I added the sweet corn, in the husks.

One more hour and I pulled the chicken and the sweet corn, let it rest a bit, cut up the chicken and plated it. The chicken was outstanding, it doesn't seem to matter what rub I use, it's always so juicy on the PBC (and the skin crisps up so nice). The sweet corn was very tender and tasty, but I was hoping it would have picked up more of a smoky flavor.

Pics to follow.

I may have figured out why the sweet corn didn't get much smoke. I forgot to soak it in water before hanging it.

The smoked corn is interesting. I always grill mine direct on the coals. Will have to try it that way.

The chicken looks great!

Does leaving it in the husk inhibit the smoke flavor on the corn?
