Bubba's Brinkman
« Reply #-1 on: June 22, 2015, 12:21:25 PM »
We have been trying to get my son in law smoking. And since his CB Red has blown yet another pan we decided it was time.
Heather(my daughter) wanted him to have a dual grill and gave me a price line and instructions to find one.
This seemed the best choice for the money. ( Most of these are low end for sure)  I added the smoker box to the side so he could start learning to smoke. If he can learn on this, He will be able to smoke on anything.
I think it will work out well for him just because of the options he has for what type of cooking he needs to do. They have 5 young'uns and sometimes you need quick...and sometimes you need a way to hide! :o :D
It was his birthday/fathers day gift, They had a fish fry so we gave it to him there.
It came from Home Depot. They assembled it if that's what you want to call it.  ALL and I mean every screw was loose except the four they striped the head slots off of.
I had to take almost they entire thing apart because if it could be mounted upside down it was! It appeared to be missing screws
but somehow when I put it back together they turned up (Except for one)...
Jack (Bubba) was busy with the fish(30 bream, a hundred bass fillets) so I got to break in the gas side with Conecuh sausage and veggies while Chris(my son) broke in the charcoal side with chicken...  Poor Bubba...
The charcoal side is where meat that's being smoked goes. Its a little small so he may have to tend it pretty close for temp control.
We test this out soon.

They seem to have improved it a little this year . Instead of the whole top opening they used doors, better temp gauges that are easily replaceable and spring handles...
I'm glad to hear someone has had one a while with good results. He uses it under a carport cover so it will stay fairly dry. Down here with the Humidity in the 90s during summer months and a breeze off the gulf, " dry" is sort of relative...
I told him to oil it good and often like I do the tank. That should help some.

My youngest has that one! He used to cook daily on it, UNTIL I gave him my Traeger Junior. Now he cooks just about everything on the pellet pooper.  ;)

Bubba wont be getting a pooper anytime soon unless we decide to do a Tommy on it and modify one to fit on the end.

I have a similar dual cooker (Smoke Hallow) that is useful, and cost effective after buying my first home.  2 years in I haven't used the charcoal side, just for smoking only, but the gas side has been getting a work out.  I think it is a good "starter" set to get the basics, and to see if you get enjoyment out of it before dropping some real coin on some cookers.
