Nice photos Don.  It's a great reminder that every now and then we need to just stop and enjoy our surroundings.

Turtle, Are you saying y'all don't have hummers in Hawaii?  Dee

I didn't say that. FYI, however, hummingbirds have been banned from Hawaii for many years because they pollinate pineapple plants in an uncontrolled manner and would have ruined the crops. Not so many pineapples now but still no hummingbirds allowed.

We do, however, have the automotive variety of Hummer and I'm still ABSOLUTELY NOT going there with other definitions.

OK..I'll bite...HOW DO THEY KEEP HUMMERS OUT OF HAWAII?, post sign, tell them to get out.  ??? .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Dee, I was going to ask the same question.  I know that they can fly for long distances over water - I've heard that they can cross the Gulf of Mexico.  But the trip from Cali to Oahu, may just be a little bit out of their range.

Dee, they have a hummingbird season in Hawaii. 12 gauge shotguns are a little overkill but a little 410 works good. The hardest part is not to shoot the feeders you are using to attract them. Not much meat on their bones, but if you can pluck them clean you can make a broth out of them.

I only have 4 feeders out this year, we normally have 4-6.  I just bought 3 of the glass ones I like. We will probably have 5 at least next year. They are tanking up for their trip across the water. So much fun to watch.

I used to hang three feeders by our deck and they were always busy - for some reason a couple years ago they just stopped showing up.  I kept rotating the liquid in the feeder but they didn't come back so I stopped trying.  Maybe it's time to fire it up again.
