$10,000.00 Dollar Steak / 2016 World Food Championship
« Reply #-1 on: November 24, 2016, 01:49:49 PM »
This wasn't a SCA event but these folks do compete in the SCA events when they are attached to a KCBS barbecue event. I wanted to post this to show just how big this steak cooking sport is getting and of course the SCA folks are the leader in these events.

Kari & Bryan Luke from Cissna Park, Illinois (Team Name-- It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere) won the steak competition which paid them $10,000 dollars.

This is the winning steak and it paid them $10,000 dollars and qualified them for the finals in this World Food Championship.

Their steak was good enough to help them win the whole championship at the end of this big event. For this, they received a check for another $100,000.00 dollars.

Sure would be neat to be the World Food Champion and these nice folks sure deserved it.

No, I have never had a shot at one of those big money events. Heck, I would be a nervous wreck competing for the 10k part of the event.

I agree with Pam, I've seen some of thenfood you can put out with a wide variety of cookers ! ! !

In fact, the week before Thanksgiving, I had lunch with the other Dave (Slow N Sear Dave).  One of things that we discussed was his interest in SCA.  We got to talking about it and I let him know that if there ever wa an SCA event near Charlotte, I would probably jump in.

Yes.  Is there an SCA event planned for Charlotte?  If not, let's make it happen!  We'd love to help.
