Festival Acorn Squash with Pecan Praline filling
« Reply #-1 on: December 03, 2012, 06:24:42 PM »
Two weeks ago, while on a weekend trip celebrating our 20th anniversary, the wife and I stopped at an Amish farm market where we spotted these beauties:

A bin full of Festival Acorn Squash.

Oh yeah, these'll be good on the grill!

Praline filling for the Squash: Mix up some brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg & chopped pecans.

These are good. Coppied a week or two back and will be doing it again. Probably tomorrow.

Thanks for the idea.

Thanks everyone!

Believe it or not, these squash were only 2/75¢ and man, do I regret not getting more. :(

Yeah, around here, I think I've only seen them at farmers markets. The Amish girl at the market said a lot of folks buy them for decoration not knowing they're edible just like regular Acorn squash.

All the veggies at this market were cheap! We also got this humongous head of cabbage for $1: Look How Big This Cabbage is!
