MAK FlameZone in Action
« Reply #-1 on: March 05, 2013, 08:24:36 AM »
If you've never seen the MAK FlameZone Drip Pan and searing grate in action, here are a few pics.

Enjoy!

Look at how shiny it is when it's brand new. We'll soon take care of that! ;)

Note: The cover is in place on the right hand side so these rib steaks can catch a little smoke before bumping the heat up for a reverse sear.

At night you can see the glow of the flames.

A different setup using the upper rack and no covers to let some chops catch some smoke before grilling.

Not so shiny any more is it?  8)

Wonder what would happen if you had GrillGrates installed with the flame zone??

GG's do one thing that even the super hot spots in the newer pellet cookers don't -- that's keep some "sizzle" right up under the meat.  Adds what I call a more intense "grilled" flavor.  I use GG's on my Memphis which, although it doesn't have the hot zone the Elite does, still hits 650 and sears like a banshee.  I also use them on my little gasser occasionally -- the difference there is quite noticeable!  It may be gilding the lilly, but the GG's are a great gadget.

Holy smokes Cliff, fantastic! Are those brussel sprouts?

You bet. I have converted many "Sprout Haters" over the years by grilling them and brushing on a little olive oil salt, pepper & garlic! YUM!

Those were plain frozen Brussels Sprouts (no butter sauce, etc.).  I only see fresh sprouts at limited times during the growing season.

P.S. Believe it or not, my kids will fight over Brussels sprouts!
