Cowboy Dinner

Fathers Day Dinner

Cowboy Steak with Cowboy Beans

Doctored up some canned beans and put on the pellet grill to get some smoke.

In the meantime seasoned the Tomahawk with Salt, Pepper, Garlic, Onion, and Cumin.

Placed in a 250 degree pellet grill until meat reached IT of 125. Pulled meat and upped grill to 500 degrees. Basted steak with butter and a light coating of the seasoning mix.

Seared each sided until an IT of 135.

Happy Fathers Day to me.  8)

Whoa Nelly!!!!!  all you needed was some Cowboy bread  ;)

What a heck of a meal  8)

Cowboy bread:  take a roll of french bread and cut it into slices, but stop just before the bottom (kinda like hasslebeck taters) drizzle butter in between all the slices. Add just a sprinkle of a mellow BBQ rub (I use Lawreys Season Salt). Dice up some green onions real teeny and then sprinkle them between the slices. Wrap the loaf up in foil and bake a spell.  So good, it will make you want to saddle up and go for a spin round the Ponderosa  :) :)

Thanks everyone. That is the first time I took the pellet grilled 500+ degrees. All in all it did a good job putting the final sear on the meat. The steak was 2 1/3 pounds and there were no leftovers.  :)
