Dang Tee, that looks incredible. This reminds me of the Chocolate Cappuccino Cake we used to get at Daryll's Restaurants (when they were around).

I bet this would work well with a Dunkel too. I am definitely going to have to give this a try.

Thanks folks! It is not as easy as an "out of the box" cake - but it does give you the opportunity to customize. Different beer, different cocoa, you can change the icing ingredients ...(might taste good with some butterscotch chips in there...) It is a rich, "adult" tasting cake. Not a sweet, light and fluffy cake that you typically expect.

In fact - the cake - without the icing-  would even be good with a beer as strange as that may sound. ;D

That don't sound strange to me, in fact it sounds like a great idea, especially with a chocolate stout or an oatmeal stout.   ;)

...With a really good cup of coffee - ( or a tall ice cold glass of milk... ;D) this seems to work well.

Oh man..... coffee or milk? Tough decision. Guess I need two slices so I can try it each way.  Or three so I can try a beer too. :D

Looks great Tim!

Very dense and I imagine a great flavor profile with the stout.

Thanks guys!

The is one of those "adult sweets"...Not sugary sweet...but a nice mild sweetness, but rich, savory coffee, mocha, malt flavors.

The icing...well - that is very sweet. I am not a really big icing fan - but a light drizzle on mine is what I like. It can be a fudge like icing if you add more instant coffee and extra chocolate chips..... Almost a fondant! :D
